BE HEARD | BE INFORMED | MAKING NZ BETTER - Come and discuss how government policy can better support rural New Zealand.
About this Event
Why does parliament need TOP?
Politics in New Zealand has become a game of survival. The interests of the individual have been placed ahead of the greater interests of New Zealand - so much so that the major political parties can only tinker around the edge of problems in case they alienate their voting base.
But tinkering isn’t good enough anymore. Faced with a housing crisis, climate change, an ageing population, and a waning ‘clean green’ image (to name just a few of the pressing issues we face) New Zealand urgently needs brave decisions to be made in the Beehive.
Can NZ do better? Join us for an informal discussion on March 25th.
Join us at Harvest Bar & Kitchen, hosted by Geoff Simmons leader of TOP. We want to hear from you about the roadblocks facing rural New Zealand - with a specific focus on tax, clean water, and post-secondary education paths.
Geoff will also talk about what the research says - what policies we should have in place to drive the results needed to support the Waimate district.
About Geoff & TOP
Geoff Simmons comes from a background as a policy analyst having worked at NZ Treasury and the UK Home Office, before spending 7 years running the Morgan Foundation (a policy research foundation focused on getting New Zealanders talking about important policy issues). He is a wealth of knowledge on public policy - both what New Zealand is doing now and what the international research says we should be doing. Since August 2018 he has been the leader of The Opportunities Party (TOP).
TOP is contesting the 2020 election with the aim to hold the balance of power - and then use this position to deliver real and meaningful change. Prepared to work with either major party, TOP is here to introduce evidence-based policy; not left, not right, just what works.
RSVP today for TOP 2.0 Waimate Roadshow: March 26th at Harvest Bar & Kitchen, Waimate. Doors open at 6.30pm for an 7pm start. Event finishes at approx. 8.30pm
